U19 World Cup Final: India Crush England to Win Sixth Title

NEW DELHI: India Under-19 clinched their sixth ICC Under-19 World Cup title with a dominant 100-run victory over England in the final played at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe. The win further strengthened India’s dominance in junior world cricket.

The highlight of the final was a record-breaking innings by 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who produced one of the most extraordinary knocks in Under-19 World Cup history.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Knock

Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a massive 411 for 9 in 50 overs, powered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s stunning 175 off just 80 balls. His innings included 15 fours and 15 sixes, making him the fastest player to reach 150 runs in Under-19 cricket.

Captain Ayush Mhatre played a steady supporting role with 53 runs, while Kanishk Chouhan added valuable runs in the final overs to push India beyond the 400-run mark.

England’s Fightback Falls Short

England began their chase positively, with early contributions from Ben Dawkins and Ben Mayes. Caleb Falconer’s explosive century gave brief hope, but the steep target proved too much.

India’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings as RS Ambrish, Deepesh Devendran, Khilan Patel and Ayush Mhatre struck at crucial moments. England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs.

India Extend Their Under-19 World Cup Legacy

With this victory, India added another chapter to their rich Under-19 World Cup history, having previously won titles in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022.
